Pitch black. That’s all that Ein saw. She could still feel Myro’s hand and held it tight. However her face, body, legs and feet felt numb. They were stiff and she felt as if she was in outer space. She couldn’t even open her mouth. Then Myro suddenly started tracing his finger in Ein’s palm, writing 2-0-1-6. She immediately concentrated and thought of the said numbers. They both instantly felt an electric shock all over their body. As they panted to catch their breath, they both stared at each other, worry painted all over their face. “What.. just happened?” they both questioned with fear in their voices.

  1. There was a charming princess named Ein from the Ministry Kingdom. Ein is quite petite and short silky black hair with blue highlights. She was very kind and known to help the unfortunate in the kingdom. She was admired by all by her innocent nature and adorable features. Myro was a rookie knight of the Ministry and rather joining the other trainees to become a brave servant, he instead spend his time in the library, reading historical books all day. While he was reading about Hamlet, Ein was also in the library, looking for the same book. They stumbled upon each other and decided to read it together. They were able to share thoughts with each other, and acted as if they were friends for a long time. As they continued to read and talk, a sudden explosion was heard. It came from the roof of the library. Ein and Myro immediately panicked and didn’t know what to do. The two tried to hide in a book fortress they made. Wood pieces and books started to fall from above, completely destroying the library’s top. They both hugged each other tight and secure, and as Myro tried to calm down Ein as he brushed her tears away, a large shelf of books fell on them. At first, they continued to hold on each other, but when they opened their eyes, what they saw weren’t books and destroyed bookshelves. They looked around, and saw a place that was unfamiliar. There were these rectangular boxes everywhere, that lit up and displayed different products, people and news. They saw people in unusual clothing, not in dresses and fancy duds. They were wearing tops in different sizes, forms and color. They saw shorter skirts and pants that seemed to be made in a dark blue shade of fabric. There weren’t any carriage or horses, there were these weird machinery vehicles that had circles, that moved as they rode it across the street. The two stood on the side of a street, just in front of a small structure that had an amazing scent, far better than tea.

“Myro, where are we? This doesn’t look like Ministry Kingdom at all” she was scared but spoke with a tone of curiosity as well. Looking around, Myro replied “I don’t know too my princess. But it seems as if this isn’t our time anymore. Everything here looks like an advanced version of our time.” He paused “Do you perhaps think that..” Ein’s eyes widened as she stared at Myro’s deep hazel eyes. “..that we jumped into the future?!” They looked at each other in disbelief, since it seems as if that’s the only conclusion they could reach. They looked at each other and also noticed that their clothes and style has been upgraded as well, wearing modern clothes. “Man, how is this even possible? In my head all I thought was that we were going to die, but this? I didn’t expect this to happen at all.” Myro said as he was still trying to analyze the place. Ein was already exploring, talking and asking questions with the boys who immediately circled and adored her.

“What’s a cute chick like you doing here?” “Come along with me, let’s have some fun” “Can I get your number?”

Ein was unfamiliar with their words. Normally, in Ministry the boys would simply greet her and give small gifts. These boys seemed more reckless and annoying.

“Uhm, may I just ask what year is this? Where is this place?” Myro then grabbed Ein and glared at the boys, almost as if saying, back off, she’s not interested. “Ein, don’t wander off and talk to people around here without me. We still are unaware of what this place is.” He with worry. “I already asked someone, he says we are in the year 2018?”

“What!? How many years have passed already?” She tried to count with her delicate fingers, Myro still holding her hand. “1978, 1979, 198-“ but before she could continue counting, they felt as if they have been pushed by a great wind. As if in a play, the scenery around them changed again, and they were back in Ministry. With their old clothes as well, what they saw wasn’t the glorious kingdom. Instead they witnessed ruins of the castle, destroyed homes and wrecked structures. The once great and mighty kingdom was now a wrecked, abandoned place.

“The kingdom.. it’s ruined.” Ein sadly stated. She was tearing up, but a thought suddenly popped up. Myro questioned, “How did we get back here? We were in 2018 just a while ago”

“I was just counting and when I just said 1979, we suddenly got brought back here.” They both realized the same thing after what Ein said. “Ein, give me your hand.” As they held hands, Myro shouted, “2018!”

Again, as if pushed by the wind, they were back in the same exact spot, with same clothes and the same surrounding. Myro, still holding Ein’s hand, shouted again, “2010!” The same feeling of being pushed, and this time there were less rectangular boxes that lit up, and this time seemed more simple and less complicated. “Mister, what year is it?” asked Ein “It’s 2010, now get lost” and the man walked away.

“Princess, this may seem ridiculous and unbelievable, but we somehow traveled in different times. We don’t age either. We weren’t only able to jump into the future, but we were able to jump through different periods.” Myro analyzed.

“So.. we are time travelers now Myro? Cool!” Ein enthusiastically concluded.

“That seems to be the cased. We have been granted the ability to transport to different years, and we don’t seem to age as well.. we may possibly be immortal as well” he thought once again.

“Then I guess we will have a blast! Should we go meet Cleopatra? Ancient Greek gods? Famous Historians? Shakespeare??!!” the princess was too excited and was already planning a trip. “Hold on Ein, this is quite dangerous, we can’t go on and abusing this as if it’s a toy. We might rewrite history and change things in the future, what if our parents don’t meet because of a tiny change? There are so many variables, if we explore, we don’t know what we might be changing.” He continued to be anxious but tried to stay calm explaining to Ein.

“I don’t think that’s the case Myro. We are basically dead in our timeline. We don’t exist anymore. And besides, you read historical books too right? As long as we stick to what’s already written and planned, we won’t cause any disturbance at all.”

Ein, with her small tiny voice, clearly explained. Myro kept forgetting that she isn’t some typical princess that just lies down and dolls herself up, waiting for a prince. She was very bright, and logical. “Okay then Ein, who should we visit first?”

They had an amazing time together. They visited Ancient Rome, met Ceasar and other known people. They went back to Shakespeare’s time, and even got to interview him. They even went to pyramids and met different gods. They also payed

a visit to successful musicians. Mozart, Beethoven and many more. They tried to get a close up battle of Hamilton. As if done exploring the whole history, they now wanted to explore what was ahead. In modern age, 2010’s, they were able to learn slangs and expressions. They went to different concerts of Eminem, Queen and Rihanna. As they continued to different years, they tried to get to an honorable private school. The two fitted in perfectly, joining different clubs and made friends. But they didn’t stay long, they went back and forth, old and new age. In 2025 they that technology has indeed advanced and more complicated. “Myro these were some of the best years I’ve had in my life. I never expected my daily lifestyle to meet famous people, see ancient monuments and explore new lands.” The princess cheerfully said as they were eating burgers at a bus stop in 2022. “I’m glad I spent a thousand year with you Ein. But, we never travelled to one period. Beyond 2030. Do you perhaps want to go?” he said while offering his hand. “No need to ask. In fact, let’s go to..2050!!” Ein excitedly shouted, holding Myro’s hand.

Then it happened.

Dark. Numbness.

They tried to travel back to 2016.

But as they tried to breathe to calm themselves down, the noticed that they weren’t surrounded by screens, cars or restaurants. Instead they were in a laboratory, with wandering scientists. They immediately hid and looked for a calendar, clock, anything with a date. It was 2049, exactly 11:50 pm.

“what is this place?!” Ein was quivering with fear. “Princess.. look.” Myro shakily pointed to the middle of the lab. What they saw made them turn white. It was them. Their naked bodies in a large tube filled with water. Before they could even think, an alarm sounded. The tubes they were in seemed to be cracking. The whole place was shaking, and the machines inside were all going crazy and out of control.

“Their power is way too much for this world, they could destroy the whole earth as we know it. They could destroy themselves!!” a scientist shouted, panicking and running away from the bodies. It was 11:58. They were the only ones left, and the ground continued to shake. They couldn’t travel anymore no matter how they concentrated. They were stuck. “Myro..are we going to die?” Ein was already feeling hopeless. Ein couldn’t say anything at first, hugged Ein instead, and replied, “I’m just glad we got these spent all these years together. Let’s meet again, in another time.” He said as they both closed their eyes and hugged each other. Tight and secure. 12:00, January 1, 2050. Verna Ivy D. Verceles
