“U-umm.. I’m Jaquin, and Imma tell you my story…”

{At school}

Jaquin is with her group of friends, walking to the school fountain.

“Hey Jaquin”, one of her friends called, then Jaquin turned to her, “yes?”, she answered.

“What’s your GREATEST fear?” asked by her friend.

“Huh??” said Jauqin, “why would you ask that??” asked Jaquin. “I just wanna know, since I’myour bestie and stuff”.

“Ok?..” Jaquin replied “my GREATEST fear is me alone, in front of many people, or as I like to call it ‘stage fright’”, said Jaquin. “Ok thanks”, said her friend.

{Next day}

In English class, the teacher [Mr. Felipe] decided to have a singing competition at the auditorium of the school. Everyone was shocked to hear this, especially Jaquin. Her greatest fear is to be alone in front of many people, and singing in front of her classmate and teachers, made her panic inside. The teacher said the deadline is next week and the winner will have a 2 weeks of vacation, everyone knows they all want that prize so they are willing to do it, even Jaquin.

“HI…”

As soon as Jaquin got home, she ran to her bedroom, closed the door, and searched for a song to sing for the competition. After that she told her mom to hire a vocal teacher to teach her how to sing properly, and luckily her mom approved.

So for the past few days, she has been practicing singing her song, but she didn’t forget that she has stage fright, still working on that though.

One day, she was practicing in her room alone. She thought, the door was locked, but it’s not. While she was singing, her parents secretly went in her room and sit down on the floor to listen to her singing.

Her parents were amazed by her wonderful voice. After she was done singing, her parents clap in joy.

Jaquin was shocked and embarrassed. “h-how long were you two sittin’ there?”, Jaquin asked in embarrassment.

“Not that long to hear that wonderful voice of yours, we have hope you will win”, said her mom and dad agrees with her.

“I-I still have..s-stage fright..though”, Jaquin stuttering while saying that. “Its ok honey, I’m sure you’re gonna face that fear soon”, said Dad.

“You think so?”, asked Jaquin to her Dad. “I know so” dad smiled at Jaquin while saying.

“Thanks Dad and Mom”, said Jaquin as she hugged them.

A week passed and it’s the competition date. Everyone is nervous but excited for the competition. The competition started in an hour before lunch, so they will have time to practice. Jaquin still has stage fright, and she wants to overcome it. She remembered what her vocal teacher said to her.

“Everyone has fears, that they can overcome or let it stay, some are temporary and some are permanently, but some needs to go and some wants to stay and its all up to you to figure out how to overcome it”

Suddenly she felt more confident after remembering that and decided to overcome her fear when she sang.

The teacher called her name and she went and go to the stage holding a mic, nervous but confident.

“Hi there, what’s your name?” one of judges asked “Jaquin Elizabeth” replied Jaquin.

“Ok? And what are you gonna be singing us today??” judges asked her again

“Shelter by Porter Robinson and Madeon” Jaquin replied to their question.

“Ok you can start”, said one of the judges

She started singing confidently and with a wonderful voice, her classmate are shocked. One of her friends, Stephanie, the one who asked her greatest fear, spread it to her classmate but everyone is watching her singing in front of them, they lost trust on Stephanie. Jaquin finished her song and everyone clapped and started shouting her name. Jaquin was so happy that she overcome her fear, she now went off the stage and her friends were waiting for her.

They hugged her and congratulate her.

“And now it’s time to announce the winner of the competition” said the head judge

“The winner is……..”

“JAQUIN!!” shouted by the head judge. Everyone started clapping for Jaquin who is making her way to the stage.

The judges hug her and congratulate her for her outstanding work.

“Thank you so much!!”, humbly said by Jaquin while she is in tears of joy. The teacher announced her prize and was given a gold trophe and medal. Once again, she was congratulated by her friends, classmates, and family. She was so thankful.

After the competition, she decided to give the trophe to someone who deserves it more.

She went to her vocal teacher’s house and ring her bell.

Her teacher opens the door seeing Jaquin holding a trophe and wearing a medal. She was shock and was so happy

Jaquin hands her the trophy. “huh? Why are you giving the trophy to me?” ask her teacher. “because you deserve it, without your help, I won’t be a champion,” replied by Jaquin. “Thank you sweetie” said the teacher with tears of joy in her eyes. Jaquin hugged her and the teacher hugs back.

Few years went by and Jaquin is a famous singer. Her teacher, Rose, that’s her name, is now a conductor of a top 11 orchestra in USA. And all of this came because Jaquin overcome her fear. Right now, Jaquin is living a life where she has many time to overcome her other fears.

“and that’s my story, thank you for listening” said Jaquin as an adult

Rose claps, “good job Jaquin”.

“thank you again Rose for everything”, said Jaquin with a smile on her face

“its no problem, sweetie”, said Rose while smiling at her.
