Lim Jou Yee
Jou Yee was born on the 14th of June 2008 on an island called Penang, also widely known as the Pearl of the Orient. She currently studies in Penang Chinese Girls School. This is her first time attempting a short story for the Young Author Award. Her favourite thing to do in her leisure time is to curl up on a chair in a well-lit and quiet corner with a book in hand, preferably accompanied with a bag of chips and a cold drink with the phrase: ‘may the chips be ever in your flavour’ in mind.
I would like to thank the Young Author Scheme for giving me such an opportunity to express my passion in writing. Immersing myself in the art of losing yourself when I write has been a great delight, especially gritting my teeth and bracing myself before letting my hand move on its own accord across an empty page whenever I hit a writer’s block, unsure of what the outcome might be. So, another thank you to YAS for introducing me to such joy in my life. Thank you, YAS!
