Biography
Hana Van De Wiel
My name is Hana van de Wiel and I am 14 years old. My mother is Japanese and my father is Dutch, making me half Asian and half European. I enjoy reading very much and like writing stories as well.
One of my favorite authors is Jane Austen, as I love the humor in her books. My dream is to become a travel writer, going around the world while penning down all the hidden gems of the area. I am an amateur writer and have only written things for fun until the Young Author Awards. My English teacher encouraged me to enter and send in one of my stories.
In the three years since I was shortlisted for the Young Author Awards, I have not been writing that much creative fiction. I have mostly focused on developing my non-fiction skills by writing works such as PEE (Point Evidence Explanation) paragraphs, one of my weaknesses. I joined the school newspaper and wrote a couple of articles for them but later decided to leave the club, as I wanted to focus on my schoolwork. I hope to write more in the future though, and I hope you enjoy my short story.
