Ariel Lim Xin Yue
Hello! My name is Ariel Lim Xin Yue, I’m 17 this year and I’m from Kuen Cheng High School. This story was written this year, when I was in the midst of preparing for exams. I enjoy dancing, walking my dog and watching true crime documentaries!
I had always wanted to join a creative writing workshop out of curiosity and my love for writing. Fortunately, the Young Author Award workshop did not disappoint! It was an incredibly eye-opening experience. Before this, I was apprehensive about showing others my work and was insecure of my own writing ability. I was able to overcome my fear through this workshop and with the support of my family, I now write and express my craft with purpose. Writing has always been a huge part of my life, and it will always be as long as my passion to express myself in artistic forms continues to grow.

Being childhood friends, Wenxia and Liheng were inseparable for as long as they could remember. Although they grew up together, the both of them seemed to fork into different paths. Wenxia worked as a part-time florist while Liheng partook in illegal street racing to pay off his late father’s loan. Deciding that she couldn’t stand to see Liheng risk his life every single night, Wenxia takes action in trying to shift Liheng’s interests when he injured his wrist. Already indivisible, they continued to entwine into each other’s company as Wenxia accompanies Liheng through the obstacles he faced.
