Biography
Avishi Gurnani
Born in India and raised in Singapore, Avishi Gurnani is 11 years old. She is passionate about art and writing. Grateful for the opportunities given to her, she is the author and illustrator of her published Poeartry book series – Poeartry with me ‘n’ me and Poeartry with mom ‘n’ me. She loves to play tennis, piano and spend time with her little brother, the reason she wrote one of her books, Tales in a Tale of a Tale. She feels a deep urge to express her emotions through her writing and convey her ideas.
The Young Author Scheme is a great platform and opportunity to experience the atmosphere of writing and to get inspired. I am excited to read the other entries. My love for writing has grown from a love for reading, and a passion to immerse myself in a different dimension, a world where rules are to be broken, and imagination is the only compass to guide me. My takeaway from this competition: Life and writing are both journeys of exploration and expression, and they have no bounds. Life and writing are both adventures, that are waiting to be lived, or written!

The central courtyard was lined with beautiful potted plants, a swing, swaying calmly, at the back. Suddenly, I realised someone was watching me, with a vexed expression.”
