Thee Sim Ling

Biography

Thee Sim Ling is a 13-year-old student studying at Methodist Girls’ School (Secondary). Being autistic with scoliosis, she is passionate about writing about disability and this spurred her to write Enigma Hawker Centre, whose two main characters have cerebral palsy. She is currently addicted to puzzle-solving and website building.

I’ve always really liked writing mystery stories and non-fiction. I grew up reading newspapers since I was in kindergarten, so informative articles are an interest of mine. When I grew older, Agatha Christie became one of my favourite authors because her mysteries were clever and left me on the edge of my seat. Now, I have published my work in magazines such as KidSpirit and Skipping Stones, and I’m the youngest finalist for New Zealand’s NFFD Youth Competition (open to international entrants). I found the Young Author Awards online, so I decided to submit my mystery story to it.
