I am Rie Hong, turning twelve this year, from Nan Hua Primary School. I was eleven when I joined YAS and spent a very meaningful June holiday writing my first 6700 word story which was later shortlisted for the YAS. Since that day, not a day passed without me writing. “If Only.” is my second 8000 words story and I am grateful to have been shortlisted once more as a finalist. Thank you, YAS! I believe that the Young Author Scheme was an extremely wonderful idea. All thanks to the proper guidance I received under Ms Khoo, I felt that I have been awakened, enabling me to complete a story, ready for publishing. When I went for her course, she made us close our eyes and imagine our stories coming alive. It made me realise that I could write so much more beyond just primary school compositions. I am extremely grateful for such an opportunity and overjoyed when I was shortlisted for the YA Awards. Thank you, Ms Khoo for motivating me!
