Hello, my name’s Dharya! I’m 16 and I’ve written my story this year. I study at Bukit Mertajam High School. I remember beginning my journey in writing when I was 8 and scribbling story ideas behind my math worksheets. I also have a soft spot for everything film and hope to become a filmmaker and author someday!

Writing a paragraph of a story concept 3 minutes into History class. Taking pictures of my friends as we walk down the pretty buildings of Georgetown. Screenplays for the film I direct with touching plots and beautiful characters both inside and out.

Storytelling has always been a huge part of my life. I breathe stories. Every time I crack open a book, I feel safe. I feel at home.

When I stumbled upon the Young Author Scheme, I knew it was a grand opportunity for me to showcase my talents in an established competition. The workshops were extremely helpful and I even made a few friends along the way! I’m grateful for all that has been organized by the people behind the entire programme and couldn’t be more happier for all that has happened with my journey in storytelling and writing thus far!
