In June 2003, a nervous-looking bunch of eleven year olds met in the Innovation Room of Anderson Primary School. Their objectives: to learn how to write their very own story books. They had absolutely no idea how to start writing. Through specialized workshops under the Young Authors’ Scheme and a unique three-month mentoring process, plus a lot of effort and determination on their part, these 50 students eventually did complete their stories averaging 3,000 words each. Each story was expertly designed into a storybook, complete with a dedication, blurb and byline. The same process was repeated in June 2004 with a second batch of 50 students. Again the students exceed expectations, with 20 students averaging stories of more than 5,000 words. Stories that sometimes extend beyond the realm of an eleven-year-old, or so we think.
At a time when we moan the dearth of creativity in our students, Experiences & Experiments Books have chosen the best stories and present to you in four volumes under the Young Author’s Club. Stories for Young Readers. Stories by Young Writers.
