Catherine says Hello

Dear Parents, Teachers and Valued Partners in Education
,

The month of hearts surely was indeed as lovable as it promised, with programmes starting for us in the East and West, as well as a hodgepodge of events that was sure to make the heart jump and pump with delight. And as the coming months bring us closer to the finale for the Young Author Awards, and the relaunch of our two major national awards, we also take pride in welcoming yet the next batch of young minds who will become a part of the ever-growing Janus family, through the programmes that we and their various schools partner with.

MARCH HOLIDAY PROGRAMME

The March holidays are looming upon us. Why not spend your holidays on a worthwhile programme? Join the following course offerings to make your March holidays even more creative:

ASPIRING WRITERS AND ILLUSTRATORS SCHEME.
Draw and write? Yes, Research in early childhood development has indicated that the visual senses in 7 to 9 year olds are acute. What’s important is for him to express his thoughts. This highly interactive programme will get him to discover the creative writer in him. It also serves as an intensive introduction to composition writing. Aspiring writers will also learn the art of illustrating from a professional artist. The result: a compilation of the best stories in a specially-designed volume.

YOUNG AUTHOR SCHEME.
Veteran author Catherine Khoo and her team of published authors will guide and mentor your child to craft his very own story of at least 3,000 words. Since its successful launch in 2003, the Young Author Scheme (YAS) has mentored hundreds of children. Many of its students have seen their own books published as paperbacks or e-books, which are available in all NLB branches. The YAS preludes the annual Young Author Award, supported by MDA, NLB, NBDCS and the Singapore Book Publishers Association.
