Dear Parent/Student:
We would like to cordially invite you to join the upcoming launch of the 2011/12 Young Author Awards (YAA) and DigiTales Awards (DTA) at the auditorium of the Woodlands Regional Library on 21 May 2011 from 9am -1pm.

The YAA is a regional writing competition for primary and secondary students in Singapore and neighboring countries, with the hope of fostering and providing opportunities to recognize and publish laudable works of under-18 authors. On the other hand, the DTA is a national digital media competition that incites ingenuity and creativity among primary and secondary students in Singapore, in partnership with Janus Education’s official technology partner, NewsMaker.
This year’s launch features a variety of worthwhile activities including
- A free workshop on improving composition writing skills among primary | secondary students
- A presentation of available software for language development among preschoolers
- A book launch of inspirational author Oh Siew May’s latest book “Scaling Walls” http://www.asiaone.com/News/Education/Story/A1Story20090227-125020.html
- A lucky draw with major prizes from our sponsors
To qualify for the YAA, you may submit your entries by logging on to the AWARDS Page of the Janus Education website at www.januseducation.sg.
For YAA, story entries should be in Word format, a minimum of 2000 words and must come with a blurb about the author and the story. A JPEG photo of the story’s cover drawing must accompany the entry.
For DTA, all entries must be in English, carrying the following theme: Building, Helping, Sharing: Stories About Me with My Community. Stories must be 5 minutes in length inclusive of narration and clips, and must have a resolution of 640x480 in .wmv format. Make sure to fill in all the fields when you submit an entry.
